Herd Sires
Selling coming 2 year olds, featuring sons of Badger, Honcho, Magnum and Schearbrook Shoshone
Badger
Badger Very few bulls that I have ever seen can compare to this amazing bull. Badger is a true herd bull. He exhibits authentic Angus breed character. His overall herd bull presence is impressive. Badger is good- footed, extremely athletic and moves out very well. He has tremendous muscle and above average length of body with extra rib shape and capacity. This bull is an amazing breeder who will find a cow in heat, breed her and move on and she will settle with one jump. The last 4 years he has run with good sized groups of cows and has had very few opens. Badger also has a docile disposition and has been loaded in the pasture at the end of breeding season in a trailer with no panels. His Dam is Isabel Y69 an Angus legend and one of the most proven and productive cows in the entire breed. She has son’s in many of the AI companies line ups. His now deceased sire No Doubt has been an outstanding sire for performance and carcass merit. He sires cattle with exceptional structure and muscling. His calves have added performance and weigh up in a great moderate sized package. Badger is a complete outcross bull for our program. He is the most consistent sire we have ever used. This spring we calved out his first daughters and I was very impressed. They are the kind of females I like. They are feminine and have nice udders with great attachment and teats that are just the right size. They stay right with their calves and have strong mothering traits. We are really excited to offer another set of sons for sale in November. He has gained a lot of popularity this past year and many top Angus operations around the country and in Canada are using him.
Honcho
Honcho is a bull we have used here for a few years and has not disappointed us. He has been a unique outcross calving ease bull for us here. We have calved out his daughters, and they are amazing. They have been breeding back very well and are getting better with age. They have a great brood cow look, are moderate in mature size and have nice level udders with very nice teat size. Maternally they have all the traits we are looking for. Honcho adds a classic Angus look to his offspring and good depth of body and muscle The Honcho calves at birth have a lot of vigor and have grown well. Since he is deceased and there is very limited semen, we have used some sons of his out of our top cows to continue on with that line.
Magnum
Magnum is a bull I really liked when I saw him as a yearling. He was very correct on his feet and legs and had a great disposition. He is a real outlier with a light birth weight and amazing performance for weaning and yearling. He is backed by generations of great females. His first daughters are reported to have level udders and ideal teat size. We are looking forward to calving his first daughters out of him next year. There will be more bulls out of him next year in our sale. The Magnum calves are looking great out of our first calf heifers.
Schearbrook Shoshone
Schearbrook Shoshone is the legendary Angus bull from 1971. Back then he was known in the Angus breed as the maternal sire. He had around 4,000 daughters in 1,000 herds across the nation. In looking into using this sire I was told by breeders that the daughters out of him were fantastic, and some said they were the best females they ever had. I have been really happy with the calves so far and I am really excited to calve out his daughter’s next spring. We AI’D 9 cows to him and got 7 calves 3 bulls and 4 heifers. I kept one straw of semen to use for flushing and last year that one straw was so potent we were able to flush 6 cows to him and got 18 live calves. We will have some more bulls in our offering next year.
